Doulton Water Filters Challenge Families To Discover The Difference In New Campaign

Doulton Water Filters Challenge Families To Discover The Difference In...

Doulton Water Filters are challenging families to "discover the difference" with the launch of a new campaign. Families are being invited to "test, taste and trust" the benefits that using a Doulton water filter brings as part of the "Discover the Doulton difference" message. Culminating in the launch of a new website, the campaign is challenging consumers' perceptions about just how much difference using a water filter makes to the taste of their drinking water. Check out our water solutions now! The ceramic water filter specialist also wants to draw attention to how important the quality and capacity of the water filter is to how effectively it removes contaminants. Powerful filtration Doulton water filters are powerful tools, backed by years of research and testing, that can draw a vast number of impurities and contaminants from drinking water. Crucially, the design of Doulton water filters ensures that beneficial properties, such as healthy minerals, remain. And this is where Doulton water filters stand above many other inline filter systems, which can also remove the naturally occurring minerals from water during filtration, leaving so-called "empty water". Rather than just significantly improving the taste of drinking water by removing chlorine, Doulton's ceramic filters remove contaminants including bacteria, heavy metals and microplastics. It is this difference in quality that the Discover the Doulton difference campaign is set to shine a spotlight on. Doulton Water Filters marketing manager Yvonne Allen explained: "Quality is of absolute importance to us as a company and we want customers to realise that not all water filters are equal." "Doulton Water Filters continually invest in research and testing to improve the functionality of products, targeting the contaminants they can remove to improve the taste and quality of drinking water. "The overall message is that customers should know exactly what to expect from their water filter - and be secure in the knowledge they are investing in a quality product that is beneficial to lifestyle and wellbeing." How Can Drinking Filtered Water Help Reduce Allergies?

How Can Drinking Filtered Water Help Reduce Allergies?

For millions of people, allergies impact daily life. From mild reactions to those much more serious and even life-threatening, allergy management is essential, and you might be surprised to know that water can play a part in this. First, it's important to understand what an allergic reaction actually is. These varied responses occur when our body's immune system recognises something as a threat and begins to produce antibodies called Immunoglobulin E (IgE), which travel to your cells and then release chemicals, producing a reaction. Lots of reactions cause respiratory symptoms, such as itchy, runny noses, tight chest, or they can manifest as breakouts on the skin. Check out our water solutions now! Does Drinking Water Help Reduce Allergies? We first need to understand a bit more about what's happening in our bodies when an allergic reaction occurs. As part of a body's response to an allergen, histamine levels rise. Water is relevant because how hydrated we are is a factor in how significant an amount of histamine is released. So, water actually has the power to regulate your histamine levels. This does not mean drinking water can act to prevent or treat an allergic reaction, but it's good to know that avoiding dehydration by drinking water will help to maintain normal histamine activity. By drinking enough water, you can stay hydrated, and instead of battling to retain water levels in the body, histamine can concentrate on tackling allergens. Ultimately, a healthy immune system is needed to fight all manner of health concerns, and water is one of the key tools to maintain overall health when combined with our diet and exercise. Contaminated water is causing allergies While treated water, the type found in domestic kitchens, is strictly regulated to meet health and taste standards, some of the chemicals used to treat it, such as chlorine and fluoride, can be irritants and possibly act as allergens. So it is possible that unfiltered water could cause a reaction in some people, but it's usually what's in it, rather than the water itself. If you consider this in relation to hydration's impact on histamine levels, you can see that if we're trying to be healthy and consuming plenty of tap water at home, without a filter, we could, in fact, be consuming more of these irritants and potential allergens. A simple, effective solution is to add a filter, whether that's a filtered bottle or an at-home unit. Filtering tap drinking water to reduce allergies Because the allergens and irritants tend to come from the treatment, not the water, you can reduce that by filtering the water before you drink it. The technology in our ceramic filters means you get all of the benefits of drinking water, without any hint of contaminants such as microorganisms and traces of chlorine that may have made it through water treatment to your tap. Enjoy super hydration with filtered water and added peace of mind. Boost your water quality with Doulton At Doulton®, we've got nearly 200 years of history and experience when it comes to water. All of our water filtration products incorporate cutting-edge ceramic technology, which can remove all the contaminants and leave in all the goodness. How Free Tap Water Is Helping To Reduce Plastic Pollution

How Free Tap Water Is Helping To Reduce...

The battle to cut waste generated by single-use plastic bottles has seen a significant movement towards promoting the availability of "free water". Of course, tap water has always essentially been free, but members of the public often felt awkward asking for free refills - particularly if they were not buying anything. The "Blue Planet" effect has seen awareness of plastic pollution rocket, prompting businesses and local authorities to take significant steps to make free tap water more easily accessible for people on the move. Check out our refillable Water Bottles now! London, in particular, has been a frontrunner in pushing the availability of "free water", with the mayoral assembly declaring that they want it to be "the norm" not to use single-use plastic bottles. Four water fountains have been set up already in the capital, with a further 16 due to be installed following bidding from communities to secure funding. Londoners are also being encouraged to top up reusable water bottles at shops and cafes across the city, which have signed up to the refill scheme - marked by a sign in the window. Drinking water fountains help the mission to go plastic-free Borough Market set the standard in London by announcing in August last year that it intends to go plastic-free. The foodie haven has already introduced water fountains to cut out any need to buy bottled drinking water from its cafes and restaurants. Elsewhere, the refill scheme has already begun to roll out to communities outside of London and, as the momentum continues to grow, hopefully more towns and cities will choose to drink tap water instead of contributing to plastic pollution by buying bottled water. With major chains backing the move to offer free drinking water refills and water companies getting behind the campaign to increase the availability of water fountains across the country, a real difference could soon be seen in the amount of plastic waste generated. Drinking water is an essential resource, and it is only right that it should be easily available. Change for good Charitable organisations such as Give Me Tap have been attempting to raise awareness of the issue of waste for some time and it is great to see widespread action taking place. Change begins with the individual, so rather than relying on bottled water, consider making a difference by drinking tap water at home. To ensure the best quality, a water filter is a great investment, removing up to 99.99% of tested contaminants to ensure healthy and tasty water. Invest in a refillable bottle and be confident in the fact that you are enjoying healthy drinking water that is not going to cost the Earth. Check out our refillable Water Bottles now!

Raw Water: The Health Craze That Could Make You Ill

Raw Water: The Health Craze That Could Make...

In a world where modern technology, pollution and information overload can leave us seeking for a simpler solution the latest craze has seen people seeking out "raw water". With recent research revealing the presence of microplastics in bottled water there has been a growth in popularity in so-called raw water - that is water that is collected straight from its source. The current craze for water directly from its source has its origins in the United States, where individuals are collecting spring water and selling it at a premium - nearly as much as £20 a litre in some cases. While the idea of obtaining drinking water directly from a spring is on the face of it a way of getting closer to nature, drinkers may also be getting closer to the elements of the natural world that can actually make humans unwell. Check out our water solutions now! Is raw water harmful? Water treatment has come a long way and it has undergone that journey for the good of public health. While people are paying a premium for untreated water it is worth bearing in mind that people across the world are falling ill every day because they do not have basic access to clean drinking water. The bacteria and contaminants that can find their way into the water supply can pose a very real threat to human health. E-coli, cholera, salmonella, and giardia are all bacteria that occur in untreated water and can lead to serious, even fatal illnesses. Contained in the faeces of animals, these pathogens can either be excreted directly into rivers and lakes or find their way there through run-off from soil. That is not the only risk from water run-off either - nitrates used as fertiliser on farmlands are another problem for natural water sources. These can easily be washed into rivers and streams that pass through the farmland nitrates are used on. Nitrates can affect the ability of the blood to move oxygen around when consumed at high levels. Dealing with contaminants The upshot of this is that while the idea of harvesting raw water directly from a natural spring is done with the best intentions in mind, the reality may be that this water is contaminated and poses a risk to health. Tap water is treated to remove these dangerous contaminants before being channelled into the water supply that serves our homes. While the chlorine taste often apparent in tap water is a problem for some people, there is a solution to that: use a water filter. Choose a water filter instead Water filters work to remove residual bacteria and added disinfectants, such as chlorine, from tap water allowing families to drink natural tasting, but, importantly, clean water on tap. Portable, gravity-fed water filters offer a solution for people needing access to clean water while on the move. The most important factor though is that there really are dangerous bacteria, pathogens and cysts present in untreated water, it is a lesson that history has taught us – and outbreaks of illness across the world continue to prove. Raw Water may be the latest health craze but it is very much a craze that could end up having the opposite effect. Water treatment is treated to protect health, while water filters let you take control of the water that you drink in your home. Tap into nature's finest resource safely by taking control of what is in the water you drink by using a water filter. Check out our water solutions now!

Doulton Water Filters Share Innovative Counterfeit Fightback Technique at WQA Convention

Doulton Water Filters Share Innovative Counterfeit Fightback Technique...

Doulton water filters will take the lead in helping companies from across the world protect their products from counterfeiting activity in a presentation at the WQA Convention. The ceramic water filter manufacturer, based in Staffordshire, UK, has developed an innovative solution to protect its products and customers from falling victim to fake products. At the international WQA 2018 Convention & Exposition, which takes place in the United States this week, Doulton Water Filters will deliver a presentation detailing the success of its authentication system in clamping down on fake copies. Check out our water solutions now! WQA: Showcasing the latest developments The annual showcase for the water treatment industry brings together leaders from across the industry to share information on developments, new technology and regulations. Doulton's sales manager for the United States, Tim Evans, who will be delivering the talk at the exhibition in Denver, Colorado, said: "Our products aim to enhance the well-being and health of our customers; in this marketplace, there is no room for poor imitations." "The level of counterfeit copies in the water treatment industry is alarming, particularly considering the amount of investment and research that goes into creating these high specification products." "Doulton is committed to protection and to this end created a comprehensive authentication system that cannot be replicated on fake copies." The water treatment industry has been plagued by counterfeit operators imitating their filters with inferior, sometimes dangerous, copies. As the technology is contained within the product, flaws usually only become apparent on use, and fake copies can appear outwardly convincing. The reality is that these fake filters are manufactured with inferior materials that will not remove contaminants from drinking water. Customers tempted by a lower price tag can be putting their health at risk if they inadvertently buy and install a counterfeit water filter. Authentication system In response to this problem, Doulton Water Filters, which supplies filters around the world, developed a two-step authentication system. This works by a unique serial number being added to every single filter. When a customer buys a genuine Doulton Water Filter, they can enter this code online to check it matches the company's manufacturing database. Tim added, "The WQA Convention is a fantastic platform to showcase the real inroads we have made into tackling the problem of counterfeit copies in the water treatment industry. "Hopefully, by sharing our insights, more legitimate producers can stop counterfeit producers from undermining their products and potentially putting consumers at risk." Plastic In Bottled Water: Micro-particles Are Double The Number Found In Tap Water

Plastic In Bottled Water: Micro-particles Are Double The...

The World Health Organisation has announced its intention to investigate the effects of plastic in drinking water, as a survey found plastic microparticles in bottled water. In a survey conducted by journalism organisation Orb, plastic microfibres were found in all but 17 of the 259 bottles of drinking water tested. The plastic found included polypropylene, nylon, and polyethene terephthalate (PET). On average, 325 plastic microparticles were discovered in a litre of water, although this actually ranged from 0 to 10,000. Check out our water solutions now! The size of the particle is also of interest - particles larger than 100 microns were counted in smaller numbers than those below that figure. The smaller microfibres, which were measured down to a level of 6.5 microns, were far more numerous, averaging 314 per litre of bottled water. Tap water Vs bottled water Orb also carried out an analysis of the presence of plastic in tap water in 2017. That survey found plastic microfibres in 83% of samples tested. However, the contamination levels in tap water were far lower than those in the recent analysis of bottled drinking water. Orb states: "For microplastic debris around 100 microns in size, about the diameter of a human hair, bottled water samples contained nearly twice as many pieces of microplastic per litre (10.4) than the tap water samples (4.45)." Consider the facts: Bottled water costs on average 500 times more than tap water. 1,000,000 plastic bottles are bought every minute and just 50 per cent are recycled. The health implications of consuming plastic microfibres are largely unknown. The discovery of microparticles in bottled water is the latest development that shows just how widespread the problem is - plastic is everywhere. The effect on health Research into the effect on human health of consuming tiny particles of plastic is urgently needed. With concerns about plastic microfibres entering the food chain through ocean pollution and drinking water, this health research needs to be a priority. While the world waits for answers and change as brands commit to plastic packaging reduction, consumers need to take matters into their own hands. Doulton Water Filters have been scientifically proven to remove plastic particles from drinking water, down to as small a size as 0.5 microns. The filters also remove up to 99.9+ of tested contaminants from drinking water. Undercounter filters can be fitted directly to the cold water supply to a kitchen tap, allowing access to healthy drinking water all day, every day. Combine that with a reusable bottle that allows you to take top quality drinking water with you - and top it up when out and about - and there is no reason at all to buy bottled water. Take charge of your drinking water by using a filter and play your part in cutting plastic waste. Check out our water solutions now!

Tips To Improve Your Well-Being for National Home Improvement Week

Tips To Improve Your Well-Being for National Home...

Homeowners are being encouraged to make changes that could improve their lifestyle as part of a national home improvement campaign - and cut down their use of plastic packaging. With health standards and obesity increasingly becoming a concern, introducing simple changes at home to support a healthy lifestyle could make a real difference. Drinking enough water is essential to health, and Doulton Water Filters wants to remind families that home improvement can be as simple as introducing a new feature, such as a water filter. Check out our water solutions now! During National Home Improvement Week, which runs from March 12 - 18, retailers and manufacturers are joining forces to encourage, support and offer tips to homeowners on how to make the most of their home through simple changes. Water Filters: Home improvement to benefit lifestyle Doulton Water Filters, a supporter of the campaign, believes lifestyle improvements to the home are a great way to introduce changes that will benefit the entire family. The company's drinking water filters allow families to enjoy healthy, great-tasting tap water by reducing up to 99.9% of contaminants, as well as disinfectants such as chlorine, which causes water to have a chemical taste. Doulton's ceramic filters also address issues with hard water, which can cause a buildup of limescale in the kettle and is responsible for the film left on cups of tea. Cut down on plastic waste Installing a water filter is ideal for environmentally-conscious homeowners wanting to cut down on single-use plastic. Millions of plastic water bottles are thrown away every day, adding to the devastating pollution of the world's oceans, which is putting wildlife at risk. Filtered water takes away the need to buy bottled water - and all the family can fill up reusable bottles and take top-quality drinking water with them when they leave the house. Marketing manager Yvonne Allen said: "Home improvement does not only have to be about undertaking major projects; small steps can bring big improvements, such as installing a water filter". The excellent taste and quality of filtered drinking water should encourage the whole family to drink more water and stay properly hydrated. Drinking water has been shown to help cut back on snacking, reduce fatigue and is essential to keep the body functioning properly. National Home Improvement Week aims to get people to think about how they could make positive changes at home, and adding a water filter is a great place to start. Encourage good hydration Health leaders advise that people should consume 6-8 glasses of water each day. With no added sugar or calories, water is the healthiest way to stay hydrated. Doulton water filters can be installed under the kitchen counter and attached directly to the tap's cold water supply, fitted above the counter or are also available in a portable gravity-fed system.
