What is the difference between a countertop water filter system and a gravity can system?

The term countertop applies to any water filter system that sits… Well, on your countertop! The main difference is how the water is filtered through and whether it uses gravity alone or the pressure from your tap when you plug it in. The Doulton Countertop Water Filter System with Biotect Ultra uses a divertor valve to draw water through the filter, connecting to your tap to purify the mains supply. Meaning that you can enjoy the filtered water taste through a tap that sits separately from your kitchen taps. Whereas, the British Berkefeld Gravity System range filters the water from a top chamber, through the filters, to the bottom chamber, allowing cleaner water to be drunk from the tap at the front of the system.

How big are countertop gravity water filters?

Our range includes three key options: 6Litre, 8.5Litre or 12Litre. The dimensions and capacities are as follows:

  • 6L - (Dimensions: 181mm x 181mm x 461mm) - Filtered Water Capacity: 5.6L
  • 8.5L - (Dimensions: 211mm x 211mm x 505mm) - Filtered Water Capacity: 7.8L
  • 12L - (Dimensions: 229mm x 229mm x 603mm) - Filtered Water Capacity: 11.5L

They can be used with or without a stand, which would also contribute to the space your gravity filter would use.
