How often should I replace my Doulton water filter?

We recommend that you replace your filter every 6 months. This is to ensure that your water continues to taste great and you can enjoy all of the benefits of removing up to 99.99% of contaminants in each sip. However, you may need to replace it sooner or later, depending on usage. Key
indicators that will determine the frequency of change include:

  • Changes in flow rate
  • Taste of water changing
  • How much water you drink
  • Original water quality

Can I change the filters myself?

Of course you can! This is a simple process that can be done without the assistance of a plumber or other professionals. Simply follow the instructions for the specific water filter system you own.

How to choose the correct replacement filter for your system:

Each Doulton and British Berkefeld filter has a filter name
and unique 4-digit code located on the plastic casing at the top of the filter; for example ‘Ultracarb 9501’. Once you have this information, finding the replacement filter is easy!

Is there any way to make my filter last longer?

In some locations, you may find that there is a buildup of dirt and grime on the external surface of your ceramic filter. To help your filter last longer, you can use an abrasive kitchen cloth and simply scrub it under the tap. We do not recommend using any soaps or detergents during this cleaning process, as they can leave residues on your filter and affect its use. We also recommend only using cold water, as warm or hot water can damage the ceramic materials.

How do I know that my Doulton or British Berkefeld filter is authentic?

Here’s how to verify the authenticity of your filter:

  • Consistent Doulton branding on the cartridge,
    packaging, and instruction leaflet
  • A visible batch number or serial code
  • Purchased from an authorised Doulton distributor
  • Pricing in line with the usual product cost
  • A clear 4-digit product code
  • High quality craftsmanship and materials

If you have any doubt or questions regarding the authenticity of your ceramic water filter products or filters, please reach out to filtersales@doulton.com to verify.

Can I use other brands of water filter in my Doulton or
British Berkefeld system?

We do not recommend using any other brands within the
Doulton or British Berkefeld water filter systems. To ensure optimal performance, safety, and certification, always use genuine, approved filters.

Where are Doulton water filters made?

Doulton water filters have been produced in Britian for
almost 200 years. To this day, our ceramic water filters and systems are made in our manufacturing facilities in Staffordshire. Every filter and product in our range carries the official ‘Made in Britain’ mark, emphasising our quality
and commitment to high standards in UK manufacturing.

If you need any additional assistance in choosing the
correct replacement water filter for your system, do not hesitate to reach out to us. We would be more than happy to help.
