Both filters last for 6 months if used in an average household setting.  Did you know you can easily clean your ceramic water filters? If the flow seems to have substantially slowed its likely that the surface of the ceramic has become blocked. Providing the water is still tasting great you can improve the flow again by cleaning the ceramic filter. What does British Berkefeld remove?

A lot of the frequently asked questions are about what our filters remove. So here is a run down:

Does British Berkefeld remove fluoride? In short, yes. Our British Berkefeld Ultra Fluoride filter will reduce the fluoride in your drinking water.

Does British Berkefeld remove limescale? In short, no. Our ultrasterasyl and Ultrafluoride filters do not directly remove limescale from your drinking water.

Does British Berkefeld remove chlorine? Yes, removing chlorine makes your water taste better so yes, our Ultra Sterasyl filters remove 99.9% of chlorine, our Ultra Fluoride filter 97.2%.

Does British Berkefeld remove viruses? No, our British Berkefeld ceramic elements, reduce cysts and bacteria found in your water, but do not filter viruses.

How to clean British Berkefeld?

British Berkefled systems don’t need a huge amount of cleaning, the filters inside do a lot of that work. If you have finger prints etc on the outside, then sure, get yourself a lemon and vinegar mix and just wipe the areas that appear to be dirty. To clean the inside, use mild soapy water, and rinse thoroughly. The exterior of the filter elements can also be cleaned, if you notice a reduced flow, and your filter is not yet due for replacement, it could be worth following our filter cleaning instructions.
