Is there any ideal order to set up the filters and cartridges in my Doulton Duo system?
Yes, the Biotect Ultra filter has an M12 thread so can only be fitted into the slot furthest away from the water flow and closest to your tap. The prefilters have a ¼" BSP thread so will only fit into the slot closest to the incoming water supply, making it easy to ensure the filters are in the correct positions when you come toset the system up.
Is the Doulton HIP DUO Independently tested?
The HIP DUO system is tested and certified by WRAS & by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 372 (US low lead requirements)
The Biotect Ultra Filter itself is tested to the following NSF standards in the EcoFast Biotect Ultra Inline System:
- NSF/ANSI Standard 42 – Material Safety, class 1 particulate and chlorine reduction
- NSF/ANSI Standard 53 – Turbidity, and lead reduction
- NSF/ANSI Standard 401 – Microplastic reduction
- NSF/ANSI Standard 372 – Lead-free compliance

How easy is it to change the filter and cartridges?
Changing your filters and cartridge is easy. You remove the housing from the fixture and swap the older filter or cartridge for your new ones. When replacing the filters in your HIP filter system, you can also switch out the pre-filter. Depending on your needs, you can select from a range of prefilters available on this page.
.
How often do I need to change the filter and cartridges?
We recommend that the Biotect filter is changed
approximately every 6 months. This depends on how often you use the system, and how much water you generally run through it. For the cartridges we recommend more frequent replacement times, which can be checked via the descriptions on your cartridge of choice.
Do I need to purchase a separate tap for this product?
We highly strongly advise that you install this system
complete with the Doulton Pillar Tap or the Doulton
Three Way Mixer Tap. This setup ensures that every drop of water you drink is exclusively filtered, maintaining the highest possible quality. Connecting the system directly to your existing kitchen tap may compromise water quality, as it does not separate filtered water from your mains supply. This potentially
allows unfiltered water through.
Do I need a certain flow rate, or water pressure, to use this system?
To ensure that this system runs to his maximum potential, we would recommend performing a flow test on your existing drinking water supply to check that the pressure is sufficient. This is a simple test you can do
yourself at home and all you need is a jug and a time to perform it.
Simply follow these steps:
- Place the jug under your kitchen tap.
- Turn the cold tap on fully.
- Start the timer as soon as water begins to flow.
- Stop the timer when the jug reaches exactly 1litre.
- Check how long it took.
If it took under 6 seconds, you likely have very high pressure (> 10 L/min), which is excellent for Doulton Water Filter Systems but may need to install a pressure reducer.
If it took 7 - 12 seconds, you likely have a medium to low water pressure which should be adequate to run the system.
If it took anything over 12 seconds, we would not recommend using a Doulton Under Sink Water Filter system without seeking advice on your mains water pressure - ideally you need 30 psi/ 2 bar.
However, you may want to explore our British Berkefeld range for an option that requires no plumbing at all.
When I replace my water filter and pre-filter cartridge in my HIP DUO or TRIO Undercounter system, will I have to replace the housing?
No, when you replace your pre-filter cartridge and ceramic water filter you will only have to change the filters themselves and the housing will remain in place.
Do you have a UK customer service team I can contact for help?
