Introducing our hero under sink water filter system – the Doulton Kingfisher! Designed to sit at the heart of your home in the kitchen, allowing the whole family to enjoy filtered water straight from your kitchen tap, the Doulton Kingfisher is the perfect solution for continuous peace of mind.

Designed for convenience to allow quick filter changes and provide high performance in a discreet installation, this system fits neatly under your sink and is recommended for use with the  Doulton Pillar Tap  or integrated with the  Doulton Three Way Mixer Tap  (each sold separately). The tap has been designed to maintain the best possible water pressure when used in conjunction with the Doulton Kingfisher system and our Biotect® Ultra ceramic water filter.

The Doulton Kingfisher system comes, as standard, with our independently certified  Biotect® Ultra Filter

This provides powerful protection by reducing up to 99.99% of common contaminants, including the following in varying levels, which can be viewed on our performance claims table here

  • Bacteria and cysts (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium)
  • Common insecticides and herbicides
  • Microplastics
  • Heavy metals such as: lead, cadmium and mercury
  • Chlorine and monochloramine

Whether you’re a confident DIYer or prefer to call in a professional, installation is quick and hassle-free. Typically completed in under an hour, the box comes with full instructions and an installation kit  is also included at checkout – for free!

Changing your filter is also effortless and can easily be done yourself when required.

All of the claims for the Doulton Kingfisher System with Biotect® Ultra Filter are certified or independently tested to a range of NSF/ANSI standard protocols.

Please note: We strongly recommend using a Doulton 3-way Tap or Pillar Tap with your Doulton under sink system. Our taps have been designed to be compatible with our systems and retain the best water pressure possible. Whilst the system may be fitted using an alternative or existing tap directly, alternate fittings and connectors may be required to adapt to your chosen tap, and the flow rate will be limited to a maximum flow rate of 1.9L/minute (the flow rate of the Biotect Ultra filter).

Do I need to use a Doulton 3-Way Tap or Doulton Pillar Tap with my Doulton under sink water filter system?

You do need a separate tap or 3-way tap to dispense your filtered water without worry of cross contamination with unfiltered water and we strongly recommend using a tap from the Doulton range with your under sink water filter system. Our taps go through strict quality control and sourcing processes to ensure reliability and performance. More importantly, they are specifically designed to work seamlessly with Doulton under sink systems, helping to maintain proper water pressure and flow rate without complications and worries of cross contamination. Many third-party taps use a ¼” inlet feed pipe, which is not ideal for Doulton systems and can result in reduced water flow. In contrast, Doulton taps use a 3/8” connection, which is engineered to maintain optimal flow when used with our under sink water filter systems. For the best performance and to avoid potential flow issues, we recommend choosing a Doulton tap and very closely following the installation and conditioning instructions supplied with the ceramic filter - to ensure that the filters are fully wetted and avoid any trapped air within the systems .
What is the Biotect Ultra Filter made out of?

Like most of the Doulton range of filters, the Biotect Ultra is made from a cleanable ceramic outer shell for unrivalled filtration, with an activated carbon core to protect against chemical contaminants.

Can I use other filters in the Kingfisher system?

We only recommend using Doulton Filters within the Doulton systems. If you are looking to protect against scale deposition in addition to bacteria and cysts, insecticides, herbicides, microplastics, heavy metals and chlorine, we recommend the Biotect Ultra SI instead of the Biotect Ultra.

What Independent test certification does the Doulton Kingfisher with Biotect Ultra Filter have?

Tested and certified by NSF International and WRAS, the system meets:

  • WRAS requirements
  • NSF/ANSI Standard 42 – Material Safety, class 1 particulate and chlorine reduction
  • NSF/ANSI Standard 53 – Turbidity, cyst and lead reduction
  • NSF/ANSI Standard 401 – Microplastic reduction
  • NSF/ANSI Standard 372 – Lead-free compliance
Is there anything else I need to consider?

We recommend you check your mains water pressure - ideally you need 30psi/2bar or more. If you do not know what your water pressure you carry out a flow  test on your mains cold water supply to check if your water supply is sufficient for the system to run effectively. You can do yourself at home with a measuring  jug and a timer!

Steps to check water pressure:

  1. Place the jug under your kitchen tap.
  2. Turn the cold tap on fully.
  3. Start the timer as soon as water begins to flow.
  4. Stop the timer when the jug reaches exactly 1 litre.
  5. Check how long it took.

If it took under 6 seconds, you likely have very high pressure (> 10 L/min), which is excellent for Doulton Water Filter Systems but may need to install a pressure reducer to protect your system.

If it took 7 - 12 seconds, you likely have a medium to low water pressure which should be adequate to run the system.

If it took anything over 12 seconds, we would not recommend using a Doulton Under Sink Water Filter system without seeking advice on your mains water pressure - ideally you need 30 psi/ 2 bar.

Other useful points consider:

Do you know where the cold water mains isolator valve is? It is often under your kitchen sink unit, but it is useful to know before arranging a fitting.

Have you got a 3-way tap, or do you need to purchase a Doulton 3-way tap or do you want to keep your existing tap and would like a separate filter tap - again think about this and where the tap is to be fitted then arrange with your plumber.

However, you may want to explore our British Berkefeld range for an option that requires no plumbing!
